American Friends of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust proudly announces Lakeside School (Seattle, WA) high school students' participation in a program at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

Shakespeare in Stratford-on-Avon

"This course provides students an amazing opportunity: a chance to study Shakespeare by traveling to Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-on-Avon, in England! Here, students will see several play productions, hear from actors and technicians, visit sites of historical interest, and delve into the rich history of Shakespeare’s time. This course will also dedicate two weeks at Lakeside to studying and experiencing a range of plays intensively, both experientially and through seminar-style discussions. Students will also be able to see excerpts from various film versions of certain plays, do dramatic readings, put together short scenes, and perform recitations of famous speeches. Our selection of plays will depend in part on the production schedule in Stratford, and it will likely include works from each of the three major categories (tragedies, comedies, histories). The class will also work on projects and assignments involving production design, creative writing, and analytical writing. This course provides a solid foundation for students as they progress through the Upper School, including those interested in taking further coursework in Drama or Shakespeare."
