American Friends’ sole objective is to promote the study of William Shakespeare’s works in collaboration with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. We seek to further the reach of Shakespeare’s legacy by offering meritorious students with scholarships that are used for scholarly, creative, ideally a combination, study. From 2002 to 2009 we have granted over 28 students with scholarships and resources to complete their area of research or creativity. The programs are: the Tree Garden at Anne Hathaway’s Garden, the Gilman Fellowship, and the NEA workshop Shakespeare, Rembrandt: Themes of Interiority.
